What is cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in the blood, normal levels of cholesterol helps maintain healthy cells. However, too much cholesterol can disrupt blood flow through the arteries and can lead to a heart attack or stroke. This is known as high cholesterol.

Treatment

  • Lifestyles changes such as exercising and eating help but if cholesterol levels remain high medication will be prescribed.

  • There are different types of medication, your doctor will look at various factors like age, health, and possible side effects.
